By Your Weight Matters Campaign. “How the Media Shapes the Way We See Ourselves.” Your Weight Matters, 25 Mar. 2016, www.yourweightmatters.org/media-shapes-way-see/. In this source, it discusses how media affects the way we see ourselves. It goes on to talk about how social media has a negative affect on users brains in several ways. It says that many people are being delusional about this beauty standard and it doesn't make sense for us to act this way however we do it anyways. This article was very useful for my project because it helped me touch on a lot of key points in my podcast. There were some points mentioned in this article that I specifically quoted in my podcast.
My moms view on the beauty standard, Atlanta, Ga, 18 Apr. 2020. In this interview, I decided to talk to my mom about her view on the beauty standard. Although my mom is a bit older than I and most of the folks I interviewed or polled, it was good to get another perspective. My mom was able to talk to me about how she has experienced the beauty standard change over time and how it affected her as a child versus now.
